Penn State Study - More Whole Grains Means Less Belly Fat
I just came across this study that came out of Penn State University, it focused on the effects of whole grain on dieters. I think it’s so interesting because I’m a huge proponent of eating alot of whole grains. I did it for nutritional reasons because of the way it’s so much more dense in nutrients and in good carbs.
I had not idea it made you lose more belly fat and decrease abdominal inflammation. Insane. According to this most recent study out of Penn State which is being published in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition”, increasing whole grain intake levels works wonders…
The study used 50 obese adults with a variety of risk factors as participants.
They then split the participants into 2 groups.
The first group decrease calorie levels while increasing whole grain intake,
the other group would decrease calories with no agenda to increase whole grain intake.
What They Found Out
Those who decreased calorie intake, while increasing whole grain intake, lose more belly fat and decrease their levels of CRP
The Take-Away
It’s healthier nutritionally, and healthier for fitness and body composition - make the switch and go whole grain.
