Why Diets are Only Temporary

Through this article I hope to explain something which I have found to be the most essential piece of information for anyone serious about wanting to lose weight or even just to eat better.

Here it is, you ready? Diets are only temporary.

What do I mean? Well, by it’s very nature Diets are only temporary, they are:

  • Overly Restrictive (and thus not sustainable)
  • Designed to exist only for a short period of time
  • do not solve the underlying problem that caused your current dietary or weight situation.

It takes a permanent nutritional regiment change in order to achieve permanent results.

I’ll explain this more, but that in essence is it.
When you go on a diet your goal is usually what:

  • To drastically change your eating habits, until you lose your desired amount of weight.

When it’s put out in front of you it’s obvious isn’t it? Then what?

What happens once you lose the weight. Do you continue the diet? For the VAST majority of people this is a resounding no. If you do continue the diet – it’s a permanent nutritional change.

Far too many people will join a fad diet. Some kind of highly restrictive regiment that bans you from eating some of your favorite foods – and forces you to eat only foods you dislike or have limited choices.
These short-term diets are over-restrictive and just about force you into a nutritional regiment that is not sustainable.

The key here is sustainability. Think about it like this, your weight loss and the changes it brings about will only last as long as the diet you are on. If you want your body to not revert back to it’s old shape then you have to not revert back to your old dietary guidelines.

I hope now you all understand. That you cannot have a “diet” if you want something more than a yo-yo game of weight loss and gain. You need to seriously, and intentionally, change the way to live and eat – PERMANENTLY.
